Unorganized Sector Workers: A Livelihoods Study of the Urban below Poverty Line Families in Imphal City, Manipur

Unorganized economic activities are the major sources of livelihoods of the urban below poverty line families in Imphal city. Most of them are working poor, and form a major part of the informal sector of the economy. Their livelihoods remain illegal and illegitimate in many cases. Their workplace are scattered and fragmented and the work status is of inferior quality of work and inferior terms of employment, both remuneration and employment.

Research approaches; The data was obtained from 370 Below Poverty Line Families of the total household populations of 12100 in Imphal City, based on the Krejcie and Morgan (1970) models of determining the size of simple.

The main objective of the study was to explore the working conditions of the urban below poverty line families in Imphal city.
