Role of Spouse Support in Job Satisfaction: A Comparative Study of Dual Career Teachers

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to explore the role of spouse support in job satisfaction among dual career teachers. Job satisfaction of an employee contributes in enhancing the production, effectiveness of organizations as well as psychological wellbeing and reduces the absenteeism, job loss and subsequent unemployment. The present study was conducted on 254 dual career teacher couples of universities and their affiliated colleges, situated in two cities of Uttar-pradesh i.e. Lucknow and Varanasi. Results reveal that job satisfaction is significantly and positively correlated with spouse support. Results of t test show that if support is high, the satisfaction will also be high in male and female teachers. The finding of this study will help in increasing job satisfaction so that organizations will run smoothly.
