Abstract

This research studies Islamic-Iranian culture in English language teaching books entitled “Hey There”. This also is documentary and is done descriptively. In this study the SPSS software is used for analyzing the data. All the problematic issues existing in these books are investigated regarding pictures and texts. Pictures classified in these four categories: “inappropriate females, inappropriate males, images of boys and girls getting together and inappropriate animals and objects. This study compares these four categories in each book separately and also each category compares in all books of the same series and finally compares them all together. This study is done by consulting a clergyman, two theology females and two theology males’ teachers, regarding the cultural and religious beliefs. Concerning the checklist of Abel Wahab (2013) and comparing the mentioned books, findings show that these series of books are suitable for teaching English language in Iran; although there are some problematic issues which are not compatible with our Islamic-Iranian culture. So, by remedying these problems, there will be the chance of having the best books ever.
