Small Scale Enterprises Sector in India – Some Explorations

The Industries in our country extends form the organized large and medium industries to modern small scale industries and unorganized tradition Industries. It provides maximum employment next only to the agricultural sector and accounts for substail exports of the country. These industries are discussed under the nomenclature of small Enter prises sector (SES). The small scale industries sector has acquired a place of prominence in the economy of the country. It has contributed significantly to the growth of the Gross Domestics product (GDP) employment generation and exports.

The sector now includes not oney SSIs units but also small scale service and business enter prices and is thus referred to as the small enterprises sector.

The production of this sector was Rs.298886 Crore in 1994–95, which was remarkable increased Rs.470966 in 2005–06.between this two period the production was increased about 57.57 percent.

The employment of this sector was 146.56 lakh in 1994–95, which were increased 294.90 in 2005–06. Between these two periods the employment was increased about 49.69 percent. The export of this sector was Rs 296068 Crore in 1994–95, which was remarkable, increased Rs. 86013 in 2002–03. Between these two periods the export was increased about 29.05 percent.
