Abstract

In this current study the researchers tried to shed more light on the possible impact of Iranian EFL learners’ general English proficiency on their reading comprehension ability regarding their creativity. Despite the large amount of research done in the area of EFL and ESL learning, creativity, as an important psychological trait has almost been ignored and under-researched. To this end, after administering the general English proficiency test, a questionnaire of creativity plus a reading comprehension test were administered as well to a sample of 60 EFL learners in Rbatkarim a district in the capital city Tehran, Iran. The results of UNIANOVA indicated that there are significant differences in the mean score of students’ reading comprehension ability with low creativity (13/62) and the mean score of students’ reading comprehension ability with high creativity (16/43).
