A house, as the most important and most extensive form of human artifact, has always been a context of question and reflection for being a context of birth and development of human society. Accordingly, the concept of residence also is one of the most complex phenomena which preoccupied human mind. Throughout Iran, architectural forms diversity in every region derives from diversity in the same factors. These factors can be categorized as environmental, structural and cultural factors. On the other hand, Baluchistan area, with regard to its wide geographical zone and specific features such as difficulty of traveling to that area which requires crossing desert, is one of the most unknown parts of Iran. Also, in architectural studies of Iran, this part has always been neglected. Thus, questioning the way houses are constructed in this area gets importance. In this research, besides a short review on some of the effective factors in construction of houses in Baluchistan area by concentrating on urban cities in northern and central parts, we tried to understand and study the form and location and typological analysis of houses in this area. Findings show that two categories of urban cities with urban economy (consumption system) belonging to employee classes and urban houses with rural economy (production system) is identified in cities of this area that accordingly have different special structures and different forms.
