Situational prevention of crime is one of the preventative actions. It includes measures that are looking to reduce or eliminate opportunities for crime and occasions that the crimes were committed in. Since this kind of prevention requires using the actions which sometimes affect the privacy of individuals, it may cause invasion of privacy which is not acceptable in Islam, human rights and Iranian Constitution. Also, it may leads to undesirable consequences for human rights and fundamental freedoms. This paper discusses the concept and principles of protection of privacy, as well as situational prevention. It also refers to invasion of privacy followed by situational prevention measures. Finally, if the concepts and boundaries of privacy are defined and authorities and executors shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms, it is possible to prevent the invasion of privacy.
