Gender Oppression, Consciousness and Conflict: Looking from Feminist Perspectives of Liberal and Marxist

The paper deals with the analysis of women's oppression from different angles which are often referred to as ‘feminist theory’. This has been dealt at length with the view that the oppression of women, whether overtly or covertly, is a major source of conflict. Feminist theory fundamentally draws from experience of women about their lives, past and present, historically recorded or know by inference. Women's oppression stems from the structural base of society and hence any attempt to overcome it requires simultaneous changes at the very structural level. Issues like prevailing ideology, women's concerns in domestic, political were discussed. It also extends to social status, ability, equal powers, and equal rights. Women are equality capable as men; culture mesmerizes them as if family and marriage are made for them alone. From these frameworks it analyses.
