Determinants of Willingness to Work in Labour Force Participation (using Household Survey)

Abstract

Theoretical and empirical studies provide valuable evidences and give considerable knowledge about the determinants or factors that determines the willingness of the labors that forces them to offer their services, consider here as determinants of labor supply participation, which is a crucial role in economic development by enhancing the development potential of a country. In this paper important determinants of labor supply participation are discussed by using PSLM data and the impact of this on employment and labor supply decision. Determinants of the labor supply in Pakistan are also enumerated on the basis of their impact and importance. Determinants include years of education, household income, age, dependency ratio, marital status, gender, region, household expenditure and age2 as a proxy of experience.
