Abstract

Present paper aims at studying juvenile delinquency psychological factors between 2009 and 2012. Its population consists of all juvenile prisoners in Ahwaz Juvenile Remedy Center. Therefore, the scope of present paper is to study psychological factors in committing juvenile offences in Ahwaz. It is a descriptive and exploratory research trough studying statistics and raw data of Khuzestan Prisons’ Computerized Statistics Center and Ahwaz Remedy Center.

We would conclude that environmental factors cannot alone being considered as the reason juvenile delinquency; rather, mental status and inherited or not inherited disabilities are the reasons of juvenile delinquency. According to studies conducted by Ahwaz Remedy Center between 2009 and 2011, the number of juveniles with psychological disorders was 194 in 2009, 316 in 2010 and 347 in 2011. It shows the psychological status of delinquents. Unfortunately, it is the main reason of their delinquency (cited by psychotherapy unit of Ahwaz Remedy Center).
