The northeast region can be said as poised, hopeful and above all promising for huge leaps in tourism. The sheer natural beauty of this region is widely acclaimed yet has been unsuccessful in gaining the spot it deserves on the national and international tourism map. Different aspects need to be considered while we seek to bring the north eastern region to it deserved place and marketing of these destinations has to be such that the tourists are drawn to the destinations leaving behind their pre conceived notions that have stymied them from travelling to the region's pristine places. This paper is based on the secondary research and tries to bring out the hidden potential of the unexplored destinations of north east region of India. It proposes a model for the right marketing of the tourist destinations while keeping the local interest and sustainability intact. This paper also tries to investigate the need for tourism innovation in reference to the potential tourism circuit development in North East India.
