A Study of Identification and Assessment of Children with Dysgraphia in Telangana State

Abstract

The study is to identify and assess the 4th and 5th class children of private schools of learning disabilities specially writing problems, Dysgraphia. It is conducted in 30 private schools in 3 districts of Telangana state. A purposive stratified sampling method is used to select the sample. A criteria Reference Test is used as basis to see the scholastic backwardness of children. Raven's Progressive Matrices an intelligence test is used on these children identified with Scholastic Backwardness and screened the children with a Screening Test for Learning Disabilities inventory prepared by Narayan. A Dysgraphia Inventory is used to identify the children with Dysgraphia. It is concluded that 15% of the 4th class and 15% of the 5th class showed problems in writing skills i.e, Dysgraphia in these districts.
