Relevance of Soft Power in Indian Foreign Policy

Abstract

Power is an important element to control and regulate the world politics. It has influence countries’ relations in the various ways. In the old age, we recognized only hard power as a chief component of power. Present era is the age of globalization. Countries’ foreign relations have depended on their mutual cooperation, trade and cultural links. In this phase, hard and soft power have played equal role to determine the foreign relation of any country. India has a very long tradition of art, culture and yoga. These elements of Indian tradition have proved an enormous source of soft power. Through soft power India has become a central attraction of world politics. Through soft power countries has strengthened their national interests and fulfill their foreign policies goals. In the new world politics, soft power is a vital weapon to nourish the role and image of countries.
