Abstract

This study is carried out to determine the relationship between organization-based self-esteem (OBSE) and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Respondents are 248 bank sectors' employees in Kerman, Iran. Pierce et al.’s (1989) ten-item instrument is used for assessing OBSE. OCB is measured by Williams and Anderson (1991) eleven-item scale. The stability of the measures is controlled by test re test method. Also, the calculated alpha coefficient of the measures is in an acceptable range. Correlation and regression analyses are carried out to test hypotheses. The study finds significant and positive correlation between OBSE and both dimensions of OCB. OBSE is correlated positively and directly to citizenship behavior directed toward individuals (OCBI), and citizenship behavior directed toward the organization (OCBO).
