Primitive Concepts of Disease in India

Abstract

Discussion about disease aetiology without citing the eminent anthropologist Forest E. Clements is just like a rootless tree. He was the first person who did the study on the causes of illness in globally. He brought attention “Theories of Illness” forth in the field of anthropology and allied social sciences in published a paper on “Primitive Concepts of Disease”. University of California Publication published this paper in American Archaeology and Ethnology (Volume 32; No 2; Page 185–242) in the year 1932. The author has reviewed his paper on theories of illness in the Indian context.
