This Paper presents a comprehensive account of the state of bondage in Advaita Vedanta as a psychological condition. Bondage has a great influence on a person's basic sense of self-identity and in turn their perception of the world. The primary cause is said to be ignorance, which, through a complex series of interlinked processes in the psyche, is responsible for giving rise to the condition of bondage.
