Analysis of Growth Pattern in Area, Production and Yield of Oilseed and Cash Crops in Uttar Pradesh

Introduction of Green Revolution in India since 1966–67, considerable changes have been taken place in growth pattern of oilseed and cash crops in the state of Uttar Pradesh. An attempt has been made to examine the relative changes in the levels of area, production and yield per hectare of the selected crops: such as oilseed crops (soyabean, groundnut, til and mustard) and cash crops (potatoes and sugercane) in each of the 70 districts. Least-square Growth Rate (Linear Regression) technique is a modified form of linear growth rate which applied in order to assess the increase or decrease or static position in area, production and yield of crops belonging to above categories of crops for each district of the state. The aim of the proposed work is to examine the growth pattern that has brought changes in the agriculture of the state of Uttar Pradesh.
