Abstract

Many of the chronic pain are associated with psychological and behavioral problems and stress. Stress is one of the issues that lead to hospitalization and recurrence in patients with migraine in hospital. More stress is associated with repeated and sustained headache rather than the pain force; this research studied the effect of stress management training with the use of relaxation techniques or cushion.

The diagnosis of migraine was assessed according to International Headache Society (IHS) and the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS). 70 people ranging in age from 15 to 50 years with migraine headaches were randomly selected and divided into two groups of 35 experimental and 35 control subjects randomly divided and covariance was used to analyze the test data. Headaches migraine recurrence was significantly lower for those who had been learning stress management and was signipoicantly higher for the control group. (P = <0.05). With regard to the relationship between stress and migraine headaches in diagnosis prognosis treatment of chronic headaches and stress and psychological aspects of patient should be assessed and besides taking medicine stress management training should be done to reduce migraine and prevent the recurrence in patients.
