The Genesis of the South China Sea Dispute

The South China Sea dispute has emerged as a potential “hot spot” in Southeast and East Asia. The dispute is not only becoming a stumbling block in the road to peace in the region but is also responsible for the rise of distrust among the countries in the region. This dispute is showing the “not so soft power” attitude of China and hence is raising a lot of eyebrows not only regionally but also of outside powers like the US, India, Japan, Australia who also have stakes in the South China Sea and is demanding a peaceful resolution of the dispute and additionally taking note of China's expansionist actions.
