In this context, the present paper attempt to understand the employment profile of women by comparing with men in the sector. Most importantly, this is a grey area in Indian academia. There are very few studies which are based primarily upon the case studies and other type of methods. But till now there are hardly any attempt has been made to highlight the importance of this area with the help of Government of India data source. Thus, National Sample Survey 68th round (2011–12) data has been used for the analysis in the present paper. The results reveal that there is still a huge gap exists between female and male work participation, status of employment and earnings in electronics manufacturing sector. Women are still employed at lower level jobs and getting lower wages, social security benefits and have lower union presence than their male counterparts.
