A Study on Fetal Arrhythmias and Synthetic Data Generation

Abstract

Majority of pregnancies consist fetal cardiac arrhythmias vary from 1% to 3% and fetal cardiologists diagnosis required for 10% to 20% of these arrhythmias. Even though majority of arrhythmias are not dangerous but some may be the root cause of fetal morbidity and death. For appropriate treatment of the fetus requires awareness of arrhythmia characteristics. To understand the cardiac arrhythmias Electrocardiogram is required. Due to the limitations in extraction of fetal ECG, currently echocardiography is widely used for diagnosis for fetal arrhythmias in clinical practice. Nowadays many algorithms are proposed to extract fetal ECG from mother's abdomen. To validate the new algorithms proposed by the researchers, normally a synthetic data has been used. Synthetic fetal ECG signal for different kinds of arrhythmias are needed to validate the proposed algorithms under all conditions of fetus. Hence this study focuses on different kinds of arrhythmias in fetus and also the generation of synthetic data for testing the algorithms under all conditions.
