Design of Bidirectional DC to DC Converter for Aerospace Applications

Abstract

This paper compare the microcontroller and FPGA based experimental results of a bidirectional DC to DC converter suitable for aerospace applications as power source. Initially different types of bidirectional DC to DC converters suitable for aerospace applications as battery charger/discharger are compared. From the comparison the Dual Half Bridge (DHB) bidirectional DC to DC converter is selected for aerospace applications as power source. Design and experimental results of the converter using Microcontroller and FPGA are presented. Microcontroller and FPGA based experimental results of the converter system are compared.
