Abstract

Stability is the main aspect of all kinds of power system network. The different types of stability in any power system such as steady state stability, transient stability, dynamic stability, voltage stability and frequency stability. In general each factor is taken for consideration depending upon the environment and situation. In this research work, voltage stability is considered for a given power system network. Flexible A.C transmission system (FACTS) devices can help in achieving voltage stability under all disturbed conditions. With the help of UPFC device, the voltage stability investigation is dealing with in this work. For the choice of location of this device certain intelligent approach is used. To maintain the stability of the system, location for fixing the FACTS controller and also the amount of voltage and angle to be injected is more essential. By considering the previous drawback, here a hybrid technique is proposed. They are Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with Genetic Algorithm (GA), Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with Bees Algorithm (BA). ANN is used to identify the location for fixing FACTS controller, and the GA, PSO and BA compute the amount of voltage and angle to be injected into the system. These procedures are individually applied to the chosen power system network either 14 (or) 30 (or) 118 bus. The simulated result is analysed and the results are exhibited the performance of the proposed methods in improving the stability of the system.
