Abstract

The business world is witnessing a new paradigm of women leaders ruling the labour market, where it is initially dominated by men. Even there is an increasing trend in women population in workforce, many research conclude that they are fewer in corporate leadership. This shows that there exist some issues in promoting women in higher positions all over the world. Women reaching a top most position in labour market are not an easy task. The main barrier for them is facing a male dominant environment. With all hurdles they still continue to occupy leadership positions not only in private sector, also in public sectors. This is the world where men and women compete themselves to search for economic opportunity with their competitive advantage. Both are self determined with their ability and intelligence. They always use their skills to create an innovative enterprise, where men always dominate the women. Women leadership is nowadays increasing and more visible than men. But they always face a series of blocks in promoting their excellence. These hurdles are not understood and neglected by the business world. When a man seeks for higher position, the society appraises but discourages the women for the same. This article throws some light on the critical barriers that women face in corporate leadership especially in India. Also it suggests some immediate remedy for the diseased environment to accept women as a successful leader.
