Information and communication Technologies (ICT) has fundamentally changed the practices and procedures of nearly all forms of endeavour within business and governance. ICT is used increasingly to not only reduce costs across sectors but also to deliver more value. Education sector is slowly opening up to the possibilities of using ICT to deliver value and change how teaching and learning takes place.
The use of ICT in education lends itself to more student-centric learning settings. This study looked at the penetration of ICT enabled teaching and learning among college teachers and tried to understand the relationship between demographics and factors that affect penetration of ICT in the teaching learning process. The findings suggest that ICT seems to have made inroads into the education sector with a lot of college teachers in higher education using ICT. Designation of the teacher, location of the college and qualification of the teachers were the demographic variables that affected penetration of ICT enabled teaching and learning.
