Availability of labour for agriculture is a worldwide problem and attempts to mechanize harvesting process have been carried out for decades. The rapid growth in the industries is influencing the labours situating in the villages to migrate to cities. It creates labour problem in agriculture field with increased wages for them. The project mainly focuses on the farmers intended to do agriculture activity but facing the labour problem. In the proposed work, an economically sound autonomous robotic system is implemented for cutting tea leaves and spraying pesticide. The project investigates the effectiveness and accuracy of harvesting tea leaf. Camera captures the image of tea leaf and does image processing using Open CV and Raspberry Pi. Color detection algorithm has been used to detect the green color of tea leaf. The robotic arm gets activated and does its cutting upon detection of green color. The mobile robotic unit will also spray pesticide to protect the leaves from getting damaged by pests. Pesticide spraying is only done on detection of color change on green leaf. The robot sprays precisely, so that not only the chemical liquid wastage is reduced but also the spray injury to environment and human body is prevented. A low-cost, reliable and autonomous functioning robotic system is implemented.
