Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to throw a light on human factors that are considered to be the key by the manufacturing industries in South India for the effective implementation of TQM. This study also explores the driving forces that encourage employees to embrace TQM and resisting forces which may prevent them from embracing the TQM. This paper was exclusively carried out to present the results of an exploratory study conducted on 132 manufacturing industries sampled from South India on the basis of area-cum-purposive sampling technique. The findings of this study clearly revealed that the human factors have a substantial positive impact on the effective implementation of TQM philosophy. Moreover, the results of this study also confirmed that the driving forces which motivate the employees to embrace TQM are in the positive side and the obstacles that might prevent the employees from embracing TQM are in the negative side.
