Factor Analysis of Performance Appraisal System (PAS) In Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)

Abstract

This article is aimed at assessing the effectiveness of PAS by using factor analysis (Performance Appraisal System) as well as at identifying the most important areas where PAS are perceived to be effective in SAIL (Steel Authority of India). A scale with 15 statements is used to obtain the perception of the SAIL employees in this regard. The frequency analysis, descriptive analysis and principle component method of factor analysis are used to empirically analyze the data. The results of the analysis have exposed the fact that PAS in SAIL is effective. It is further exposed that the areas where PAS tend to effect are communication, work assessment, productivity and employee competence.
