Postcolonial Ecofeminism: A Study of K R Usha's Monkey Man and Anuradha Roy's The Folded Earth

Ecofeminism is comparatively a new part of the feminist movement that intertwines feminism and environmentalism to discus women-nature connections in terms of degradation, exploitation and injustices that lead to the oppression of women and the domination of nature in the patriarchal society. This paper explores K R Usha's Monkey Man and Anuradha Roy's The Folded Earth to bring out how the Indian women novelists have portrayed the exploitation of women and nature in the materialistic Indian Society. As eco-feminism wants to replace conceptual schemes, practices, and theories that naturalise women and feminise nature, K R Usha and Anuradha Roy point out the twin domination in this globalised era and call for the replacement of patriarchal system by feminine values. They have also identified woman-nature connection as a cultural construct and have found the ways to liberate both women and nature from false ideologies.
