Every minute some research work is being carried out by eminent scientists and technologists for the welfare of the society. Because of the advancement of science and technology, one such a Plastic Resin-Poly vinyl chloride resin, an important raw material for several applications, universally accepted, processed from vinyl chloride monomer; this vinyl chloride monomer is derived from petroleum product basically from fossil energy. By deploying proper conversation process the vinyl chloride monomer is converted in to poly vinyl chloride resin. The advent of low cost, high speed processors has accelerated their application in process industries. Despite the presence of different controllers still the proportional-integral-derivative (PID) types are most preferred type of controllers in industries. PID controllers have the advantage of simple structure, good stability, and high reliability. The most challenging issue for PID controllers design is the accurate and efficient tuning of parameters.
The aim of this paper is to investigate the various controllers suitable for temperature control in a PVC reactor. Artificial Bee Colony (ABC), a natural inspired algorithm is used to tune the PID controller for the Batch Reactor. Finally performance characteristics of various controllers are compared based on their time domain response and disturbance rejection characters.
