Enrichment of oxygen in petrol/diesel leads to faster burn rate and ability to burn more fuel at same stoichiometric ratio. This work investigates the impact of oxygenates (Dibutyl ether and Methyl phenyl ether) on a single cylinder SI engine. Experiments were conducted using gasoline with DBE and Anisole of 10, 20 & 30% on volume basis at various loads and constant speed of 1500rpm. All the six blends were tested for performance and compared with gasoline. The test outcome shows that a decrement of 26% in TFC is achieved by sample D & G. SFC holds very well for the sample D showing least value. The brake thermal efficiency increases with increase in concentration of anisole. Sample G shows an increment of 50% when compared with gasoline. The mechanical efficiency of samples B, C & D are almost equivalent to the performance of gasoline. Whereas the samples E, F & G show a higher range of performance. Especially sample E shows a maximum efficiency of 53%.
