Fuzzy Logic Control based Parallel Cascade Controller for Distillation Column

Abstract

Cascade control is normally used in the operation of chemical processes to reject disturbances that have a rapid effect on a secondary measured state, prior to the primary measured variable gets exaggerated. Parallel cascade controller is used in most of the process industries because both the manipulated variable and the disturbance affect the primary output and the secondary output through the parallel actions. In this paper, the parallel cascade control is implemented with three different control strategies with the help of MATLAB simulation and the results are compared using settling time, rise time, peak overshoot and tracking capability.
