A Study on Opportunities and Challenges in Financing of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises

Abstract

MSME sectors are the dynamic and important organs of an economy. It creates sizeable employment and production of different products. Entry of large scale operators, competition and ambiguity due to the global depression has increased challenges for the MSME. Among the many challenges frustrating the growth and development of MSMEs, insufficient access to financial resources is the key obstacles that make these enterprises susceptible, principally in economic depression times.

This study has been attempted to check demographic profile of MSMEs proprietors, various factors influencing the performance of MSMEs, challenges and problems in financing, reason behind the sickness and opportunities, and various financing schemes available.

Demographic profile plays significant role in the management of finance through the perfect selection of credit. The performance of MSME is highly influenced by financial problems, marketing problems, labour problems, technology problems, external problems and personal problems. T-statistics confirms the null hypothesis that there is no significant difference between the financing of banks and financial institutions to MSMEs. This study also reveals that several reasons are actively responsible for the sickness of MSMEs. Some factors creating big opportunity to the operation of business. Government is intensely assisting for the development of MSMEs.

It is concluded that MSMEs plays a decisive role in the Indian economy. MSMEs will continue to play indispensable role in economy where the twin setbacks of unemployment and poverty, which represent a major development challenge.
