Entrepreneurship is used as a major catalyst of economic development of the country. Rate of self-employment among women is increasing in several developing countries like India. Tamil Nadu, the state which is third ranked in industrial development has taken several measures to promote women entrepreneurship. Recent studies are focussed towards women empowerment and women entrepreneurship. TOWS analysis has been made to bring out the various aspects in terms of Threats (Challenges), Opportunities, Weaknesses and Strengths of women entrepreneurs in Tamil Nadu. This would make an attempt to understand the areas to be improved in terms of policy measures and support activities to promote women entrepreneurship in large scale.
