Sustainable manufacturing targets towards non-polluting means of manufacturing techniques and energy efficient method of manufacturing. In this work, sustainability in manufacturing is accomplished by introduction of a vortex tube. Vortex tube is a mechanical device that separates the hot compressed air and the cold air that flows through the tube and exits the cold air alone on to the workpiece. The main effects plots for means for the flank wear with and without vortex tube are plotted. By introducing sustainability in manufacturing, it is noted that there is considerable amount of 7.4 percentage decrease in the flank wear when the turning process is carried out with the aid of vortex tube.
