Abstract

In this paper, a dual boost AC/DC/AC converter is presented to improve the quality of output power and the performance of a Wind Power Generating System (WPGS). Dual boost AC/DC/AC converter comprises of Vienna rectifier and switched inductor quasi z source inverter. In comparison to conventional AC/DC/AC converter, the proposed dual boost converter increases the boost ability significantly. The dual boost converter provides boost output voltage, reduces the cost, control complexity and switching loss which improves the efficiency of the system. In addition, proposed dual boost AC/DC/AC converter smoothen the inrush current at startup, which might destroy the device. The PI control technique is used for proposed converter to improve the performance of the system. The proposed system has reduced line harmonics and improved output voltage which is achieved by reducing the switches and controlling the shoot-through fault. The performance of the proposed system is justified by simulation results. The THD value of the proposed dual boost converter is compared with different boost converters.
