Communication skill set bestowed for the engineering students in colleges and the demands of workplace communication should be matched. Graduates from the engineering colleges must be technically proficient coupled with communication skill set to perform their tasks effectively in the job environment. Though there is a huge demand for engineering graduates in corporate sectors, unemployment prevails which inturn raises a question about the quality of these graduates. Due to the lack of proper communication skill set most graduates form the engineering colleges does not suit for employment. Hence, it is genuine that there exists a huge gap between the Campus communication environment and corporate communication environment. This gap is due to the way English taught and learned in the classrooms. This paper aims at exploring the English language proficiency & soft skills for the workplace readiness of students from Engineering Colleges, which is very important for their future employability.
