Recent developments in the field of ICT have opened many new channels for providing information services. A vast change is occurred in every sections of library namely, Collection, Storage, Retrieval and distribution due to the global wide technological development. The library professionals have transformed their mode of service from conventional to Web based library service. The advancement in the communication system has given librarians wide scope to deliver their service to the users through Internet. Todays’ knowledge centers are becoming epitome of intellectual elegance and repository of technical education, in particular, engineering and technology. The librarians play a pivotal role in the process of retrieval of information, knowledge, and understanding among the students, and so aiding them in the development of their professional skills. They are providing access to a wide array of technical ideas and information to the budding engineers and promote excellence among the vibrant generation. This study reports the result of a survey conducted among students pursuing Engineering in Coimbatore region to determine the extent to which the students are aware and make use of web based services. A questionnaire was distributed among the 200 students across the Coimbatore region to collect desired data. Out of 200, 190 valid samples were obtained from students.
