Emotional Maturity and Academic Achievement of Prospective Teachers

Abstract

In the present paper Emotional Maturity and Academic Achievement of prospective teachers have been studied. The “descriptive survey” method of research was used. Prospective teachers of Birbhum district were the population of the study and 120 prospective teachers were selected by purposive sampling technique from Visva-Bharati and “Emotional Maturity Scale”, of Singh and Bhargava (2005) was used for data collection. The mean, S.D., ‘t’-test and product moment correlation have been used for data analysis. The results of the study shown that there is no significant difference of academic achievement between the mature and immature levels of emotional maturity of prospective teachers, it means that different level of emotional maturity of prospective teachers’ does not necessarily determined their academic achievement. The study also shows that there is positive correlation between emotional maturity and academic achievement of prospective teachers.
