The present study aims to analyse the increasing interest in non-farming activities and its impact on the demographic, social and economic characteristics of the respondents. The Nilpur, from Rajpura tehsil of Patiala district has taken up in the present study the region has great importance because in year 2001 it was village but in year 2011 it is converted into Census Town. The present study utilizes the data from primary sources to facilitate the study. The primary data has collected through the interview schedule. The sampled households have selected on the basis of only those respondents are interviewed those have sale their agricultural land and after that shifted their occupation, secondly those have agriculture land but not performing farming practices and presently doing other non-farming activities. The random sampling method has been used. It has concluded that the changing workforce in the area from agriculture to non agriculture gives us a clear understanding about the role of non-farming activities helps the promotion of living standard of the respondents. It has realized that the influence of the urbanization is spreading in the rural areas and changing their physical landscape, economic and societal environment.
