Work-Life Balance among Academic Library Professionals: A Study

Abstract

Libraries are the repositories for humanity's knowledge. They represent the past, present and future. The information available within the confines of a library must be accessible to all people, regardless of wealth or status. Library profession is a people profession. Librarians are to work with user whose demands are varied, vendors, publishers and higher authorities who sanction grants. Hence the task of a librarian is really hectic in the present day ICT environment. Balancing life and work in this fast changing culture in like walking on a tight rope for any professional. Librarians are no exception to this. The Present paper makes an attempt to identify work life balance of librarians, salary, and gender of work life balance and the role of the management in work life balance.
