Regional Characteristic Effect Ordinary Profits of Japanese Red Cross Hospitals

Disclosing relationships between ordinary profits and other factors at Japanese Red Cross Hospitals (JRCHs). Consequently, the research will address to one of the factors which is regional characteristic effects ordinary profits.

The data used in this study are “Overview of Japan Red Cross Hospitals Year 2012” Target at 92 JRCHs. Additionally annual income database was implemented for allocation 2nd medical districts. Used analyse of variance was that a dependent variable was set ordinary profits per bed. Explanatory variables are set hospital characteristics as the number of doctors, and dummy variance of regional characteristics as population density and so on. The research is exercised multiple linear regression analysis (stepwise selection).

The result of variance was R²=0.57 Thus, the result showed significant differences of regional characteristics. Regarding results of multiple linear regression analysis, the estimation formula of ordinary profits per bed was Y=-1,022,739+81,801X1 (number of doctors per 100 bed) and R²=0.34 Discussion: Regional characteristics influence to hospital managements because high population density has propensity to be large ordinary profits. Moreover, higher doctors. number correlate to large ordinary profits.
