In general Residential Segregation refers to the areal separation and distinction between the inhabitants within a definite geographical and social area such as a village, municipality, ward, residential block, para, maholla etc. Although segregation is not always an outcome of differentiation, deprivation or forced isolation. Yet segregation may initiate by people's own choice or predilection to live along with their kin and clan, to preserve their own cultural trait and identity, or to live together to get some facilities or with some other purposes. This paper attempts to recognize such type of ghettoized area in Kulti town of Paschim Bardhaman District and tries to find out the main causes of their segregation or congregation.
