Abstract

Human society‟s struggle that led to an evolution of the present society cannot be undermined. Every struggle has been a cornerstone in the history of mankind and the society. Be it the discovery of fire, the invention of wheel or the Industrial revolution, be it the Civil or the World Wars, it is always the society and its people that are affected and every turning point gives a new belief system to live by. Although, the society has ever been changing since the time it came into existence, one thing that remained forever was human‟s desire for freedom and excellence. His desire to be free from boundaries that stop him, laws that bind him and constraints that are an obstacle in the path of his free will and his desire to excel either within those boundaries or transcending these limits to achieve excellence. This desire for freedom as well as excellence ever remained and shall continue as long as the man lives. The work in this paper studies freedom and excellence in the light of each other. Further, it explores the relationship between excellence and positive and negative liberties and highlights that how these two affects excellence and vice-versa.
