Nigeria's Quest for a United Nations Security Council Permanent Seat: Prospects and Constraints

Nigeria's quest for United Nations Security Council Permanent Seat has been on for long, and series of attempts have been made by the country to enhance her chances. Although, countries like Egypt, Kenya, Libya, South Africa, among others, are also well in the race, it is pertinent to note that out of the countries that are bidding for the permanent seat, Nigeria has great record of significant contributions to the global stability which is the anchor of all preaches of the United Nations. Hence, if such a seat could be given to Nigeria, the giant of Africa, the glory and honour of that membership will not only be for Nigeria but also for the West Africa sub-region, and the entire African continent. So, it becomes imperative for all Nigerians both at home and abroad to work hand in hand in order to rebuild the good image of Nigeria to the entire world for the country to succeed in her bidding for United Nations Security Council Permanent Seat.
