Pragmatic motives of “Nasir al-Din Tusi” for writing “Akhlagh Naseri”

Abstract

The book “Akhlagh-e Nazareth, ” the most important sources of Islamic morality, written by the great scholar, “Nasir al-Din Tusi” at the time when the conditions for expressing an opinion was not provided. The main reason for this situation was intolerance of opposing views by followers of religions (such as pro-Abbasid Sunnis and Imami Shia and Ismaili Shia, etc.) and various Islamic sects and ideological currents, (Sofia, Philosophers and theologians, jurists, etc.). On the other hand, materials found in “Akhkagh-e Naseri” that are inconsistent with the character of the scientific and ideological eunuchs. One of these ways was donating the book in its introduction to his opponents and praising its enemies and changing this introduction in different situations. Renouncing the contents of the book and expressing materials in “Akhlagh-e Naseri, ” which is inconsistent with his principles, such as “wine culture” that is forbidden to the consensus of Islamic scholars. In this paper, considering the circumstances of time and measuring the ideas of this scholar, his motivation and approach in writing the book are examined to take into account scientific judgment about his character and moral views.
