Economic development of any region depends upon various factors of which infrastructural development play pivotal role. Interregional disparities in levels of infrastructural development are major issue of economic, social and political concern. The present study attempts to analyse interdistrict variations in infrastructural development of Punjab. Ludhiana district has remarkably high levels of infrastructural development index since 1991 till 2014. However, there are wide spread disparity in levels of infrastructural development between Ludhiana and remaining districts as Jalandhar and Amritsar-second and third ranking districts have infrastructural development slightly more than half as compared to Ludhiana in 1991 and even less than half in 2014. Hoshiarpur and Patiala were found to be little closer to Amritsar and Jalandhar. On the other hand all other districts have infrastructural development levels very low at all the three points of time. Therefore, more emphasis should be laid on enhancing adequate infrastructural facilities in the regions with lesser infrastructural development to promote balanced regional development in Punjab.
