Aluminum based metal matrix composites (AMMCs) are broadly used in aircraft, automobile, structural and marine applications because of their excellent mechanical properties, better wear and corrosion resistance. In the present work inspects the effect of stirring time, stirring rpm and weight percentages of reinforcement on mechanical behavior of Al-Si-Mg alloy reinforced with silicon carbide which was manufactured through stir casting process. The effect of the different parameters on the tensile strength was inspected using Taguchi's Design of experiment. The experimental analysis was conducted using L9 orthogonal array in taguchi design. The manufactured composites were examined using optical microscope. Experimental results showed that weight percentage of reinforcement has the maximum percentage of contribution on mechanical testing followed by stirring speed and stirring time.
