Rohingya Muslims and the Question of Citizenship, Human Rights and Security In Myanmar

Human Rights can be described those conditions of life which can be enjoyed each and every human being in the world because of his/her human nature. While, Human security means protecting fundamental freedoms- freedoms that are essence of life. It means protecting people from critical and pervasive threats and situation. But, in the context of Myanmar, what is happening is total opposite of these. Rohingya Muslims of Myanmar are facing widespread persecution and oppression in the Rakhine State from the ethnic Buddhists. As the Rohingyas are denied citizens of Myanmar, they don‘t enjoy any state protection. They are regarded as mere refugees from Bangladesh, and to escape from strong hostility, they have to flee to nearby countries through dangerous sea routes. At present they are people of “nowhere”. Through this paper, the authors want to throw lights on various rights and security issues facing by the Rohingya community in Myanmar.
