Communication models are the core of media studies. Though it is still in its nascent stage, communication models are vital for any research activity in the field of media studies. In this paper, the different models of communication are discussed from the perspective of media studies to analyze and understand their similarities, their relationship to one another and also their differences. Observations have also been incorporated and summarized on the daily transactions of these models into real life communication processes. Communication requires a shared environment, a social relationship between those who participate and to make the communication process work necessitates the need of commonality. It is under such commonality of environment, participation and commonality as a catalyst that the present study is undertaken. By the end of this paper the reader can expect to know the functions of communication models to real life situations.
